    SCARM

Stumbled on something interesting ... Many of you probably know this, but for those who don't, be aware that the Atlas track planning software is a virtual duplicate of SCARM. I recall when Atlas had their OWN software, but apparently they've decided to discontinue that. Too bad, I thought it...

Thanks, GGN -- I'm so deep into Scarm now that I'd be backing up! :D

The greenbrier logging and coal co

I don't envy you -- removing everything out of the room is daunting, to say the least.

Thanks, Joe ... I'm learning my way through it! Slow but sure!

    Online shops

For N scale, I have used: AJCkids, Fifer Hobby Supply, Factory Direct (https://factorydirecthobbies.com/pages/n-scale), Top Hobby (https://www.tophobbytrains.com/micro-trains.aspx) ... and others. Also agree on Hiawatha. /Bill

The greenbrier logging and coal co

I'm doing the same with 1 inch, since we can't easily get 2 inch here in Florida. It definitely results in less waste and it's easy to bring home too.

    SCARM

For those of you who have a paid license to this software: is it worth it? Or can I plan my relatively simple layout using the free version? It's the $44.90 license price that has me puckering. Thanks for your feedback.

    Track Plan for a Beginner

👍I agree ... the Contact Us page says "Our products are developed in-house", so maybe a basement startup, but they seem pretty busy. Thinking about getting a couple to try 'em out and I'll report back. Maybe when the OP gets his, he can share.

    Track Plan for a Beginner

LoL ... This site: https://www.berretthillshop.com/ is the one I missed. This site: https://www.berretthill.com/controls/ is the one when I was looking at. Two different sites, for some reason. Still, the toggles look very interesting! ;)

    Track Plan for a Beginner

Ah, that explains it -- we're looking at two different websites. This one: https://www.berretthill.com/controls/ is the 2015. Yours is probably the most current one.

    Track Plan for a Beginner

I'm looking at their home page, which says 2015.

    Track Plan for a Beginner

The company SEEMS legit, but it bothers me that the copyright date on the website stops at 2015. A good webmaster keeps that updated and current. I think I'd give them a call at the number listed.

    Track Plan for a Beginner

Just my two cents and recommendations from someone brand-new to Kato Unitrack ... It. Is. Awesome. to work with, easy to set up (and tear down), and solid as Gibraltar. I'll never go with any other.

Kato N Scale -- Switch Problem?

I think wearing my Marklin hat was the biggest obstacle while troubleshooting this. DC has many advantages over AC and I'm looking forward to using it.

Kato N Scale -- Switch Problem?

I am red-faced and embarrassed to say that the problem is SOLVED. Danny: I studied your illustration of the M2 and read your warnings and realized that I had the feeder track in the wrong place. Even tho it was on the mainline, it was BETWEEN the turnouts. (I did that because the feeder cable...

Kato N Scale -- Switch Problem?

Migalyto ... Just wondering: is there a way to set these to NON-power routing? From what I'm reading, doing this provides power continuously. Feedback?
