    Semi-scale Grain Elevator

Thanks Graham for the additional pics...I thought that place looked familiar in the first thumbnail; UP used that grain elevator in one of their corporate calendars in the 1970's with a batch of freshly painted boxcars!

Yea...Patrick is guilty of being narrow minded more than once...in the meantime, don't be bashful about listing your goods for sale here....it wouldn't be the first time!

    Switchers or Geeps?

Once upon a time, I got a photo of a (then) BN branchline train coming in off the Pullman/Marshall line...nailed it at Empire siding at the west side of Spokane...with a Yard Mule in the mix of power!!! I want to say this was in the 1980's...when BN was notorious for slapping ANY power together...

    HO Stakes for log cars.

Yea, I think the Details West are the same bunks I used for kitbashing Model Die Cast 40 foot gons into Log Bunks...as UP converted a bunch in the '70's for the same purpose, numbering them 66XXX series... http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/up/up66833ak.jpg Great way of shipping logs...

How do you quit second-guessing your track plan?

Ianacole is on the mark....the truth of the matter is, no matter HOW GOOD everything looks on paper, until you bloody well start operations; INCLUDING direction of traffic, "room to move", (and that is working one yard without your head end in another townsite!) you really want to be COMFORTABLE...

    HOYARDSALES a Joke!!!!

This is NOT the first situation of Patrick's Ego flaring...there's PLENTY of other rooms to sell your stuff...have at it!

Advise for online store / Rolling stock / Wishlist

Let your fingers run wild on the internet and have a good long look at what is available; this hobby is certainly different than even 10 years ago, let alone when I started dabblin' in it 35 years ago...here's a shortlist of websites..and hopefully others will chime in with some I've missed...

    >>Canadian grain box cars<<

GEXR, I think you're starting off on the wrong foot...your Athearn 40' single door...something like this: http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH70453 or this: http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH70426 ... the car you were looking at was a half-hearted effort...

    Does Anyone Make These Hoppers?

If you don't mind the shameless plug, drop a line to Dave Barlow/Perkin's Road Depot at Perkdepot@AOL.com and in the subject line mention NHN hoppers. I've seen his work and he's had these NHN custom hopper cars available at numerous model train shows.

Another runaway train movie coming out next year.

OK...so where was this pup filmed at? and does anybody know how much is "staged", and how much is bonafide 1:1???

Questions about renumbering Atlas HO Pulpwood cars

You know, you should get your hands on one of the BN color guides published. BN is known for converting railcars for specific purposes; and log flats are no exception. Which brings the next question...are you looking to do full length logs? They are more common on the west coast to the best...

    Train inventory question

First off, welcome to the forum! In regards to your inquiry, there are several programs to choose from...including the last gentlemen's suggestion of plain old MS Excel, to which I use also! The question you need to ask yourself is HOW ELABORATE of program do you wish to persue? At one point...

Please give comments on this proposed layout

Yea....I have to admit, it definitely looks fabulous on paper...but how much thought have you given to "substance"....industries, and locations..."traffic flow"...you going to have double ended sidings so that your industries can be accommodated in either direction?...if your just gonna "throw"...
