Semi-custom Bulkhead Flat

This car started life as an Ambroid kit, a box of very many, very small wooden strips and some ancient instructions. It was originally a pair of pulpwood flats, with screen flooring and center bulkheads, quite unique in themselves. Most of the kit is basswood.

Well, timber operations are a bit rare in South Texas, home of the Knippa, Lytle and Western (HO),so I decided to convert them to more standard bulkhead flats.

The flooring was changed to "wooden" decking by painting and installing Evergreen styrene. Otherwise, most of the cars' construction is per Ambroid's instructions. All in all, they took several weeks' worth of evenings to complete.
