I need some expert help here, I'm sure some of you will remember the C424 I have, that had the repaint stripped. (I can see why the previous owner tried a re-paint). I would like to keep it in similar condition but with light weathering, the problem I have is the original colour, on certain areas it seems to have worn away especially on the rear, as you can see in the foto's, I can't find a matching blue so I'm thinking of just going with lots of rust to cover it over, but I think that would look terrible, (blue Loco, with a brown nose and arse???) Does anyone know what actual colour Conrail used or a way I can cover it without it looking like it's a wreck. Your help would be appreciated.

Good morning all!

Boy, love this season although I am sure glad when it is all over. Have DIL with 2 Grandkids for a week. One of the Grandkids has his squeeze with him which makes for a house full. We definitely did NOT have a supply chain problem as there are a ton of gifts under the tree - AND spread around nearby. Makes me wish I was that kid again! Lucky we can burn outdoors here as there will be tons of wrapping paper and boxes that need to flame on.

Have about 6 inches of snow on the ground with the temp 24F @ 0800 Montana Standard Time. Ok so there is not a Montana Standard Time, it is actually Mountain Standard Time, but I digress. Have 60 to 94% chance of snow according to Verizone until Saturday. Actually could get above freezing on Wednesday - go figure.

Train cave work is pretty much on hold although I will be out there finishing a new desk for working on electronic stuff. Will have its own OScope, volt meters, solder station and all the glue necessary for that along with a dedicated computer. I try to get cave work done everyday; at least *some*.

Enjoy your day!

Willie: You are correct. Cathy my wife is a huge football fan and even stayed up last night to watch Tampa Bay get beat since she isn't a Tom Brady fan. She has met every Packer QB from Bart Starr to Brett Favre and even rubbed elbows will Packer President Mark Murphy at the induction of Favre to the Football Hall of Fame.

She is going to the Packer game in Green Bay on Christmas and if the Pack goes to the Super Bowl, the room will get lots of use.

The stories could go on.

Greg
Hee in the uk I used to like rugby, the blokes are much built than footballers winks….

Yes it probably would. I've thought about getting some old time passenger cars and run them as an scenic/excursion train behind a stream engine. My layout leans towards the northwest in the 1970-1980 time period. Great Northern is the main focus but a Burlington Northern and Montana Rail Link have snuck into the roster also.

Scalecoat II Conrail blue ought to match. Also Tru Color paints make a Conrail Blue.

I'm sure there must be some you could find on fleaBay, even if there bust, wouldn't take much to fix and do a re-paint.

OMG! nope not gonna happen, EVER, I will die first, the buggers going to be two tone blue, sod it, $30 for ONE oz, you gotta be out your freaking mind. I am not paying that for sodding paint.:mad::mad::mad:
Rant over 🙂
Where are you looking??? Most hobby outlets are 5 bucks a bottle, for TruColor, fleabay $4.50!
Just found Badger Modelflex Conrail blue at Midwest Model Railroad supply for 4 bucks a bottle.
Google is a wonderful thing

Good Morning all! A rather nice, cool and crisp morning here. Predicted to warm up, and like Willie's area, 83 degrees forecasted for Christmas day.
Well, the conductress has started her Christmas baking and the house just smells fantastic, Christmas is officially here.
The only gifts I wrap are the wife's. She knows that I know, I am terrible at it.
I did get in a little train time yesterday, running a chemical extra. Sorry the tank car is next to the engine.

STAY SAFE
LATER

Takin a break.
Setting up the empire for unit trains for the Christmas Toy Run on Monday, 27 Dec. I think there might be a few new motive power units showing up under some trees so they will certainly want to put em to the test for distance and tonnage.
I had pulled all the intermodal stuff off the layout a few months ago for some steam era operations. To get started I just emptied the container onto the benchwork and began sorting em out. At this point I already put together a mile long spine car train with containers. Gotta put a well car train together next and load that up.
