I'm adding more books to the bookstore, and I'm wondering if there's interest in other subjects besides model railroads. Do you model any of the following?

I would be interested in rockets, but no nothing about them except they should go up.

No other modeling but do have a pretty decent colection of woodworking tools out in the shop that get used lot in warm weather.

I voted for both static planes and static cars. I grew up modeling planes, though I'm not too active now. I like commercial aircraft quite a bit, but I've done some military aircraft, too. I always built my models "clean" until I'd been involved in model railroading for awhile. Then I built an AC130 and did my best to weather it. My brother and dad are both into racing cars and military aircraft, so we've built some collaborative models over the years. That's always a fun project and it gives each person a chance to focus on their area of expertise.

I'm still involved in static cars, or more appropriately, static vehicles, all of which just happen to be HO scale. :) In fact, I'd equate my level of enjoyment and involvement in HO vehicle modeling with HO model railroading.

OK, looks like there's some interest, so I may add a scale modeling section to the bookstore in the near future.

I dabble with 1:25 scale plastic models now & again when I have time. I also have a small collection of 1:64 scale Ford trucks, especially the Hot Wheels 1979 Ford F150 series, since that's what I drive in the summer.

I once modeled sportswear for a local boutique, but I guess that's not quite what you had in mind, is it? :D :D :D

But yes, I'd definitely be interested in scale modeling books.

Aside from N,HOn30 ,and 0n30 I'm also into 1/64th scale cars by HotWheels.JohnnyLightening ,Race Champs, etc.

I have quite a few customized 1/64th scale cars and trucks.I am also planning on scratchbuilding some 1/64th scale buildings to go with these vehicles.

Wow! Where was this thread a week ago? I just sold a large chunk of my NASCAR diecast on eBay so I could afford model railroading  Actually, I'm not as interested in NASCAR-type racing as much as I used to be...I do like the local dirt track though...now there's some fun times :D My dad and I have quite an extensive collection of Matchbox...the real Matchbox (that are actually in little boxes...not these cardboard/plastic blister things). We have a couple of original Matchbox store display cases too.

I have a minor collection of Matchbox, most from my childhood (late 50s-early 60s). I kept most but never really expanded the collection. No original boxes or anything like that, and ALL were heavily played with! At one point had a #1 and the trailer, sold them years ago to my HS trig teacher who was a VERY serious collector. (Always make points with the math teacher...)

Also, altho not a "model" to be assembled", a few Roco MiniTanks collected at about the same time and a few years after that. I mostly rationalized them at the time as "scenery" for the train layout. I had an armory that Fort Hood would envy.... Also heavily used, played with and there may be more than a few still somewhere in the backyard of my folks' house.

My last major MiniTank purchase was at a flea market in Houston (long before I moved here). A lady had a large grocery bag full of them, mostly still in original packaging. She wanted 25c-$1 each, I was digging thru looking for for a few amphibious units when she said, "Hey, kid, for $5 you can take the whole bag.." Considering that even at her price that was about $25 worth, I jumped at it.

I have a couple dozen 1/72 military aircraft. I also have a handful of 1/24 1/25 model cars. I have four or so model rockets for when the weather is nice too. I also have a small collection of tanks and howitzers.

Trains may be my favorite though... rockets get me nervous because I'm always afraid I'm going to lose one. And model cars and planes just can't be played with :D

I build 1/24 - 1/25 cars to keep me fresh. It keeps me from getting bogged down with my HO trains. I only get around to one or two a year as my first love is modeling the C&O of the 40s and 50s. I do muscle cars and hotrods, and I do not weather them:-) Here is a recent example.

Alex,
I just purchased a house with a 40 X 12 room in the basement for an HO layout. I hope to have trains running on a photo worthy layout in a year or so.

Hi Jim, we'll be looking forward to seeing some pictures when you get started on the layout. I imagine that will be a bit after you get setteld in to your new home.
Cheers Willis
