I've heard through the grapevine that a warehouse use to store styrafoam products for LifeLike in Baltimore is burning.

And through a Yahoo group

"Further clarification (just back from the scene): This building was the former Baltimore Traction Co. powerhouse and carbarn, at Druid Hill Ave. and Retreat St. built ca. 1891 when the line was still a cable car line but electrified shortly after the building was built. The fire went to five alarms, the building is a total loss, and there were still streetcar overhead power conduits in the building. You have perhaps 24 hours at best before public-safety demolition begins."

It stored styrofoam (or similar) which is essentially frozen gasoline.

Not something to be toyed with when it's burning....

I imagine the 5 alarms were for assistance in keeping it from spreading.

It was most likely styrofoam. Like Like makes styrofoam products in their Lifoam line. I bought one of their styrofoam coolers at 7-11 last July 4th to carry my soft drinks in. I'd guess they do more business selling coolers than they ever thought of selling trains.
