Just curious. I just got 3 the other day and am having a heck of a time with a few of the scenario's. Didn't know if there were other people on here into the game. The Pacific NW one even on medium mode is owning me.

I have been playing it. The game is based more on macro economics than the other games. It's quite a bit different, I can't decide if I like it or not.

If you are running a more up to date XP system, Sid Meier's Railroads is much more like RT2, with some limitations. However, it's graphics engine is beautiful. Don't try to play it on Vista though. It is awful.

There is a great mod community for Railroads at HookedonGaming.com. They have added various scenarios, engine types, etc.

Thats the biggest thing I dont like about it is its more of a business and econ game, like you said, then a railroad game. Thanks for the link I'll have to check it out.

I like railroads, it is literally all about the trains. However, RT3 is interesting in that it has many of the elements I really enjoyed from RT2. I think RT2 platinum is probably the best of the best, other than the now outdated graphics. Pray for a beefed up Railroads sequel I guess.

I have Railroad Tycoon I - III. I like them all a lot. I also have Railroads. I wasn't as impressed with it as the orginial series. You can pick them all up on EBay for so cheap now.

So what option is there for a Mac?

Pretty sure there are Mac versions for all of them.

I am not playing it, because I think it stinks. I hate that one cannot build a good railroad. The 3D view obscures anything that would allow one to get the grades where they are supposed to be. It really needs (actually sometimes version II does too) an overhead view. I much prefer version II and even then there are some aspects of version I that are better.

If I play a railroad game that requires me to build a railroad, I want to be given the tools to build a good one.

I uninstalled RT3 to reinstall RT2. Better in my opinion.
