Ya'll git r done...:DWhere is this "git r done" coming from? I've heard it all over the place?

How does one get the "view" where it lists who voted for what? I used to have that view end it has gone away.

Anyway choosing who to vote for was difficult considering the them. Do I vote for the shiniest? So I fell back to the technical photography for casting my vote.

This poll was set up for a private vote so there's no way to view how other members got r done. :D

Unless you vote yourself. It shows what pics are in the lead.

I'm as suprised as you are! I voted for the Rocket-painted E-2!
Besides, yours is just a boring roster shot. :p (As awesome as the engine may be...)

I voted for the Rocket-painted E-2! I really liked that one but it didn't get my vote because of how things were leaning into the center of the picture (a malady of a wide angle lens). This was evident on several of the photos this month.

A lot of the others had focus problems.

Humm, leaning towards the center?

Josh, that's where the taller objects near the sides of the picture are not perfectly parallel with the edge. I had this problem with a few of my mill pans, but Photoshop Elements has a distortion adjustment feature that let me correct them.

Ahhh, thats what I was assuming he ment. I try no to judge any model railroad shots, where there's multiple tracks, by that factor, as the track could actually be causing that.

I try no to judge any model railroad shots, where there's multiple tracks, by that factor, as the track could actually be causing that.Things that are supposed to be up and down are always a good thing to look at as they aren't as subject to optical illusion as things like parallel rail wedging across the screen. However, sometimes one can also see it in the rail itself. For example look at the GP20 photo. See how it looks like the track bows slightly down right in the center? Just a tiny wide angle effect there. Another common problem with too wide of angle lenses is the "big nose dog" effect. None of those in this months photos. Usually this is with the prototype photos were people just get too close to the loco and compensate by cranking in the "wide angle". Cringe....

I don't even notice that anymore...I'm currently saving up for a 10-22 lens, so just you wait ;)

I don't even notice that anymore...Then you aren't looking at the pictures with a very critical "judges" eye.

I'm currently saving up for a 10-22 lens, so just you waitYou must have a Canon Digital Rebel camera. That is one nice lens. I would be getting one if I didn't already have a 12-24. There are some really neat effects you can do with an ultra-wide.

Hmmmm, Now there is an interesting topic for a photo contest. "Ultra-wide view of trains", or "Trains in a Fishes eye".

Nah, it's not that, it's just that I see so many shots with worse barrel distortion (my 28mm is really bad for that) that a little bit barely reaches me, and of all the things I think about in a photo, barrel distortion is near the bottom.

I'm looking at picking up a Sony A700. I like that it has two memory card slots.

It looks like a neat and capable camera, the only real falt I can find is that the IS is in-camera, which I don't really like. The dual memory slots ar really neat, and I'd find that pretty attractive if I didn't prefer using dedicated CF cards!

jbaakko

Wait huh?

I use the CF card most of the time, but the MS accesses faster in the Sony camera.

Really? I guess that's Sony's fault ;)
