The Puget Sound Model Railroad Engineers are having our monthly Ops Session tomorrow (Saturday 9/1). It starts about 11 am and runs until all the trains have been tied down or we run out of steam, which ever comes first.

Come see faithful operations from the 1950's on this million dollar layout. We are located on the fifth floor of the Washington State History Museum on Pacific Ave in Downtown Tacoma. Parking fees and admission to the museum are required, I don't know the figure of the top my head - I don't have to pay. ;)

Memberships are available to the PSMRE (then you won't have to pay for parking and admission either, in the future).

1) A detoured SP train on the Stampede Pass (you won't see this train running Saturday).

2) There will be plenty of activity at E. Tacoma, one of the most difficult jobs on the railroad.

3) Plenty of trains will keep the crews busy at Stampede.

4) WB NP freight drifts through Kanaskat.

Awesome pix!

Wish I lived on your coast so I could visit that beautiful layout, but Baltimore to Seattle is a kinda long drive <LOL>

A couple of photos I took at the August ops session. Steve's photos are great, but you don't get a feel for just how big the layout really is.

These shots aren't nearly as realistic, but you can see that this is quite a large and impressive model railroad.

Yes, it's a great layout. I do like the second photo, it's a nice location.

The entire layout is patterned after the prototype. The second photo is the area near Reservation, just north of Tacoma. The track layout in the area is correct, though the geometry is a bit off to accomodate the fact the layout reverses direction there. There area couple of those compromises due to the fact the layout did not have unlimited space available, and obviously it's compressed rather than to scale length, but all in all it's a pretty accurate representation of the area.

Say Model Bob and others,

Is anyone familiar with a model RR club near Longview, Washington on the Columbia River or possibly headed more toward Cathlamet and or the coast. I've lost contact with a good friend and avid RR modeler, Brian Francis who lived in Cathlamet but seems to up and left yet that somewhat seems fairly unlikely as he was avidly working on his own layout in his mobile home in Cathlamet as well as working on a larger club layout somewhere not too far away!?

Any help would be greatly apreciated,

David Smith
