I'll start us off for once...

CP sent a rare treat into the Oak Intermodal yard this week, TWO rebuilt SD45's! The CEFX unit is the newest addition to my collection. Both models are Proto 2000 engines. I patched and decalled the CEFX one. The CP one is straight outta the box. (A Rarity for me)

Lets see what you've all been up to!

Its made of insullation board and styrene, so it should. But I wouldn't expect the containers to survive the trip

Looks great CP9302! Here's my latest project. Weathering, detailing an "patching" an Atlas Conrail C40-8W to a NS road number. So far I've weathered the grills, "faded" the blue paint (which is very common for these units), replaced most of the pilot details with DW parts, and added the number patch decals. Now it's time for a little more "fine tuning" on the body weathering, weathering the trucks and frame, and she will be all set!

I doubt I'll have anything to contribute this weekend. I have a building kit or two ordered but they arent here. Maybe I'll find some new Vehicles or something. Either way I look forward to seeing everybody else's posts/progress

Fred, I'm not sure how he did it, but I airbrushed some white artists oil (the stuff from Wal*mart), thinned with Windex, and have yet to try an alcohol wash idea I've heard.

i painted my new plaster hill's today, the colour look's like cow dung but it's the lighting, honest, my cheapo digi cam has not got a light balance on it so i can't get rid of the green glow. Most of the hill's will be covered in vegitation so you won't see it anyway

Kevin and Fred Great work and pictures( so close to the object!), that is far above my "weathering skills"
Steve B I don't find it a strange kind of color! What is wrong with it? I think it is even better to start with a ocre/green or brown/green color : it represents the ground/soil much better ! so it will look great with the VEGETATIONat last! TREES:D lol
Your bridge scene will be( yet already) great Steve!

Johnny the water is only 1/8" deep, i painted the base flat black with some dirty brown and green grime near the culvert then poured WS instand water, the liquid kind not the stuff you heat up.
Fred The environmentallist is either asleap on the job or it's toxic waste he just sniffed at:eek:

Paint I get but if that's a decal, how do you get them so friggin' straight? And that trailing CP unit in the first shot of your last post looks like a REAL worker. Nice

Great photos everyone! I like the "water scenes" and bridges!

A while back I decided I needed more gondolas. After a short buying spree on EBay I had a few more. The other night I felt like getting out all the 50 footers that I have not run in a while. So here they are passing the Cement Distributor. (There is something wrong in a couple of photos. Look out for it)

I cheated on the CEFX unit and patched over a UP painted engine. I did re-do the front and rear of the hood and decalled the red stripe across the rear. If I was painting a UP engine, I'd use the red stripe decals. My airbrushing isn't good enough for a stripe that small.

Nice work on the Bel-Air Josh, it looks like a street rod now. Did you drop a bigger engine in while you were at it? :)

If you watched this post last week you saw that I was building a platform. The one I had was pretty wimpy.
So I scratch-bashed a new platform out of popsicle sticks.

http://www.vitaconnect.com/photos/traincity57.jpg

The freight station had no platform and the door was too far from the tracks.

http://www.vitaconnect.com/photos/traincity62.jpg

The passenger platform was several feet too high and Bette had to jump over two feet to board.

http://www.vitaconnect.com/photos/traincity61.jpg

Now the height is right.

http://www.vitaconnect.com/photos/traincity63.jpg

And here's the finished product.

A yellow CXT posted on the Gauge Forum was the inspiration for this one.The body is Matchbox stock right down to the graphics.I have just under a half hour and less than a dollar invested in it.I call these conversions Quickits.Anywho here's the pics.

Another great week of work.

Fred,

Love the nose on that front unit.

Kevin,

Nice work. I think that CR unit lives near me. A coal drag comes down from the north and parks about 10 miles from here. It seems like it always the same two engines. That one and its NS brother. It's very poor track and they have to go really slow. It's also where they dump the coal cars they don't feel like fixing--or so it seems. There's a couple that have been there a while.

Steve,

Nice work on the hills. Like the bridge and the city scape.

Johnny,

I thought modeling 1 toxic dump a week was the limit. Not often you see one well-done toxic dump, but two? How did that diorama do on eBay?

Tom,

If you got all those gondolas on eBay, they sure came nicely weathered. Purdy.

Josh,

Love that Bel Aire. I wish I could buy off the rack buggies at Wally World. This weekend I built that little Jordan kit buckboard. That has to be the lower limit of what I can do. When you have parts that take up 1/25 the surface of the tip of your finger, well. Then the thing didn't come with a horse and harness (tip: when buying the Jordan kits, the same models for the same price can come with and without horse. Bet the one's with the horses.) Well I needed a harness, so I used carpet thread and worked it around the horse as close and I could to where a harness would go.

By the time I was done I felt like I had drunk about 5 cups of coffee, I was so rattled.

Radar,

Nice drop leaf. Congrats on the completion of the track. I wish I could run trains.

dekruif,

I thought a pick-up was smaller and had this spot in the back for hauling modular layouts to train shows.

OK, Better late than never?

This weekend was spent trying to get the new scenery at the high bridge blended. This is the result and the first two trains to roll through.

The Great Northern is buying rock for some new project and part of the deal is that the power stays with the train. Here ex-CNW, now M.C.o.W. GP-9 #1755 leads a string of empties to the quarry. It's my guess the units will see more than rock service while on the line:D .
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e268/enjineerbill/La%20Crosse%20Layout%20construction/highbrg_1.jpg

Looking towards Ablemann, M.C.o.W. Ry GP-30 #822 leads a pair of commuter service FP-7's out of Ablemann with a string of empty sand cars to be set out at Dachshundville.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e268/enjineerbill/La%20Crosse%20Layout%20construction/highbrg_10.jpg

And from a different angle(and a better view of blended scenes).
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e268/enjineerbill/La%20Crosse%20Layout%20construction/highbrg_8.jpg

Lots more to do here but I'm again happy with the results so far.
