Excerpt from The Globe & Mail News Canadian press.

CN spokesman Jim Feeney says one of the engines slid down a 75-meter (246 ft.)slope with both the engineer and conductor on board.
The two were stuck on the embankment until they were pulled out by rope after daylight because it was “too steep to climb up.”

I wonder if it'll be cost-effective for CN to raise that loco vertically from such a depth, I'd imagine they need some extra-heavy-duty cranes!

Just goes to show how well built the loco's are.
recovery for the loco could be a fun trip, how will they get anything to it, the railroad track bed is not wide enough for a crane to be used, Mmm

You know, that's a bit of a testament to the durability of that locomotive - I find it somewhat amazing that the radio still worked!

At least CN Rail can't get blamed for mistakes on this one - rockslides aren't under their control.

I find it somewhat amazing that the radio still worked! Considering that the antenna must have been ripped off or at least buried, you're right!
