I was at Radio Shack today, getting some mini slide switches and a volt meter and stumbled on this rather interesting item:

It's a contact cleaner for electrical parts, it's supposed to cut through oxidation and help electrical contacts carry better flow of current. It's like a paint pen. I bought some just to see what it might do, and I am pleased, I can see using it to clean track, running it down one rail at a time then wipe, I am using it to clean the contacts and the wheels of my engines. It did seem to make a difference in how my little MP15's (N scale) ran over turnouts and such. It's not cheap, about $12.00 for a pen, they have a ProSilver for about $9.00, but I figured I may as well go for the gold (pun intended :) )

Here's alike to the Radio Shack link

I for some reason am always willing to try stuff like this, in the hopes that maybe that odd item might be the right tool for what I need. You may want to get one, maybe for those odd areas that have poor connectivity to see if it just may cure it.

Cool! Thanx for sharing about that David, I'll have to try some myself...

I need to correct myself on the ProGold pen, they actually make another pen that is for badly oxidized connections, they recommend you use Deoxit first for connections that are bad, then the ProGold to add additional connectivity to the clean part. They do recommend it for model trains on the package, here is Deoxit.

I found both products to be well worth the $$ and how they clean wheels and track.
