Hi folks,

I am pleased to announce that I have just wrapped up production on a DVD entitled "Building Craftsman Structure Kits". If you've never built a craftsman structure kit, and always wanted to, but never knew where to start, or if you've build many, then this DVD is for you. This DVD (also available on VHS) is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes long, and covers all the essentials needed to build a craftsman structure kit. I actually build South River Modelworks Whitney & Bent Furniture Co. on the DVD. While the DVD focuses on this structure, the techniques demonstrated can be used for any craftsman structure kit. The topics discussed include: Craftsman Kit Overview, Tools, Adhesives, Paints, Preparing Castings, Working with Wood Walls, Painting and Weathering Wood Walls, Windows, Attaching Wood Walls, Painting and Weathering Masonary Walls, Signs, Attaching Masonary Walls, Tarpaper Roofing, Shingles, Corrugated Roofing, Detail Castings. The DVD also includes some never before seen footage of Dick Elwell's Hoosac Valley Lines, and many of the craftsman structure kits I have built for that model railroad. The DVD has been professionally photographed, edited and produced by incredibly talented cameraman from a Boston news station. We have been working on this project since April, and are very pleased with the finished product. There are techniques in this DVD that will appeal to all levels of modeler.

Some of you may know me from a few of the other forums. In case you don't, let me tell you that I have been associated with Bob Van Gelder of South River Modelworks for the past 14 years as a close friend, advisor, editor of instructions, and author of historical aspects of his instruction manuals. I have built all of his kits, in some cases, many times each. I have also build many, many other craftsman kits from most of the other manufacturers.

To order this DVD, send $29.95 plus $3.00 US shipping or $6.00 International shipping to:

Here's an update folks...After several painful weeks of waiting, the DVD's arrived at my house on Tuesday. Yesterday, all the domestic orders were shipped by USPS First Class Mail. Today, the International orders were shipped. As of this moment, every order that has been paid for, has been shipped.

My sincere apologies for the delay. Had I known Mother Nature was going to step in and throw a wrench in the works, I would have waited to announce the release. As many of you are aware, the Northeastern United States was ravaged by heavy rains in October. Those rains caused floods that forced the disk replicating company to close for 10 days to clean up and repair equipment. While my project was not damaged in anyway, the closure wreaked havoc with the factory's production schedule.

Having said that, the DVD's are in stock and available for immediate shipment. I will ship out any order I receive before 3:00 p.m., that same day.

This DVD is a natural companion to any craftsman structure kit, and would make an excellent Christmas gift.

If you haven't yet seen the DVD, just go to this page on the South River Modelworks' website for a complete description and ordering information.

To all those who have placed an order...my deepest appreciation and thanks for your patience.

Scott

Actually there is a "For Sale" sub-forum here, plus another subforum for members to post about their eBay listings. A somewhat more seller-friendly culture here than on certain other places...

"for sale" seems different to me than "commercial" but perhaps not for the operators of this forum

Hi All! well this section is for websites online pertaining to Model rail or associated interests. Posts with links to the sellers websites are allowed, along with a description of what to expect. The forum does not promote or endorse anything that is offered, so as it is with eBay, buyer beware. The reason this section is allowed is it may be valueable to a member for that one elusive item that can never be found, so if only one member finds that certain item then it has been worth it. We also have a section for ebay sales where members items are automatically listed, when a member submits his/her eBay user name to Modelbob and indicates their wish to have the items displayed in that forum. These are the only forums where posts of a commercial nature are allowed. Such commercial posts are definately TABOO ( Not Allowed) in the discussion forums and will be moved here as this one was.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask

Ooops almost forgot. There is also a place (forum) non commercial, where members can offer their extra model rail items for sale to other members The Interchange Track or post for a wanted item
