I apologize about the huge image sizes, but it is impossible for me to resize them without messing them up.
I really like that St. Mary's car, but the real challenge would be that Penn Central gondola. Look at all those colors!

That St. Mary's car is my next topic of weatherment. :D
Well, I certainly look forward to it.
GM - It's a shame to see a D&RGW car in that state.... but, at the same time, it looks like it would be quite a challenge to capture. MM did one of those not *too* long ago.

uspscsx, this one's for you! The track was below the parking lot we were in and I took this shot while standing on my truck toolbox. ;) You can make out a little of the roof detail. It had just rained, so that's why it has the wet look. :D

Some more... I got a few as you can tell, I wish i was good enough with the brush to make some of these! By the way, one of thses shots looks like one of our own members here got into taggin ;-) but I hope it wasn't him!

Some more, including an airhose laying between the tracks, just a detail that can add interest!

and s'more... Lets see who can recognize the owner of that orange covered hopper, then point out what ELSE they own... Oh hey, I think... if someone can figure out a php picture host of some sort, I can host a "Freight Car Modelers Index", I have the space, and subdomains! Also, the BNSF box, look close, there's alot of rust above the truck on the left.
jbaakko

And more, including an interesting tank, and on the left of the tank another interesting covered hopper (didn't get a good shot of her unfortunatly).

should be 2nd to plast post here... I spent alot of my time last weekend railfanning, taking pics of the freight cars!

Last ones for now, until I go out again, maybe next weekend. These shots will be harder to use, but can give ideas, I was shooting across the valley, was actually hoping for a train on the bottom tracks... Picture #2 I included for modern modelers to see the supprising amounts of graffiti on them, and the older ATSF shock control box.

Grande Man- Ahh yes, a Railbox: The weatherers best friend!
I touched up your photo so it doesn't look as dark. Hope you don't mind!
As the brighter photo reveals, it seems to be an interesting Railbox. You've got your common brown tint, and clean ribs. But what I notice is the powdery white substance on, beside, and above the "X" in "Railbox." Also appears to have a new(er) door.

Josh- Thanks for the photos! I saved them instantly. I especially like the patched CSX box car and the Railbox.

Not at all, it looks much better. There was another Railbox there that had a different lettering style and a lighter shade of yellow base color. Any ideas where that one came from? :) I've got some pics somewhere...

Your welcome Matt, I'll toss you some more after I get out again, I think I'll set up the resource site as soon as I can figure out the danged automated php picture posting... Its not to complex but there's no downloadable templates, but I know what I need...

Matt,
What I meant was - you linked people to my first DRGW centerflow - but the more recent one I did comes closer to Grande Man's proto pic. The Rio Grande logo in particular.
No Lethal Injection... but Donald Trump has two words for you.

More... The last pic is a bad pic, but it shows some interesting vent detail on the box. I'm working on running a picture wizard (makes thumbnails) and php picture page setup, so that I can make the freightcar modeling resource... I'll have to organize it and everything but... By next weekend i should have it running.

Josh, once again, great set of photos. The rusting on the SRN Ex-MTW box are interesting.
Sabine River and Northern sure is picking up a lot of junkers these days. Of course, you do see the occasional "clean" SRN boxcar. And, I don't know what they're hauling, but for an east Texas short line, they sure send their cars far and wide.
But I'll tell ya, it's those tank cars that have me most interested... You know, I saw nearly an entire train of those brand spankin' new UTLX tank cars with the yellow conspicuity striping today. And the rust patterns on those older LPG tanks - beautiful.
Nice work, Josh!

SRN Owns a fleet for lessors... Just one of those cycles, 10 years from now it'll be someone else. Down here we get alot of SRN, MR, & one other, smaller RR's...

'Cept I've been so busy with another site that I havn't worked on the resource! Well next Friday I'll be out again, I'm going in seach of some other angles in Kingman Canyon.

Here are a trio of boxcars from three of my favorite roads, may they rust in peace. Varying levels of weathering, even though they are all fairly aged at this point in their lives.
Photographed at Marion, OH last year from the steps of the tower. A great place to be able to get a little roof action and still see the side of the car.
If any one wants full size originals of these, drop me a line and I will email them to you.

Now that I looked at that shot of the BNSF 60' plug door again, it looks as if it was at an angle in some water... If you look closely at the rusty end there's white "water mark" lines... Hummm...
EDIT By the way, I'm going to use maj.com to host the Resource, sort of like I have my best shots, I'll just iFrame it up a bit, Hopefully have it done by weeks end.

Here is a Wisconsin Southern box, because not all boxcars look like they are 80 years old. :D
Hey Crook! I could definitely use full size originals of all three boxcars, but especially the Boston & Maine boxcar. My email address is: nospam-ryan.harris@sbcglobal.net (just remove the "nospam-").

Nice pictures! Looks like those WSOR boxes have the same problem as the old Southern box cars had-running letters. Brown and white just don't tend to mix...

Well, this photos arent from the north (of america), but may you can get something to add to your projects.
First group its from the south of the country, where its so rainy and cold. Please sorry about some pics quality, it was taken from a train in movement.
And the second group its from the north of the country, where there are places that didnt see a rainfall for more than 70 years, so here dust and morning fogs wheatered the equipment.
