TRURO MODEL RAILROADERS ASSOCIATION will hold their 28th Annual FALL MODEL TRAIN SHOW on Saturday October 15, 2005 9.00am-4:00pm at the NS COMMUNITY COLLEGE, ARTHUR STREET, TRURO

There will be Operating Layouts in N and Z and HO scale;
Railroading Sales and Display Tables, last year there was a Lego display which by my observations was drawing a lot of spectators, I hope there is one at this show.

Admission: Adults $4.00; Students $2.00;

I hope to be taking some photos to post,

Photos? Might do that as well, although my past results have come out blurry at best. While in Truro I hope to see the Ren. equipment on VIA as well.

Anyone else going there?

Wish I could go. I live in Calgary, though. Went to the maritimes for the first time this year, and loved it. Tried to see the CB&CNS, but didn't see a single train. :(
Do you have any pics of the CB&CNS you could send me?

I have some photos posted here: http://www.railroadforums.com/photos/showgallery.php?si=cbns&limit=&x=10&y=7
The bottom three shows were taken by Willis, who started the thread.

I plan on adding more in a couple days.

OK folks you wouldn't have missed very much. There were some very nice detailed models and if it wasn't for two very nice N scale displays there wasn't a whole lot. The New Brunswick clubs wern't there so my pictures are few.
These first shots are of a diarama made by a real craftsman, Frank Organ, however sitting it on a corner module wasn't the best way to display it. More of his work can be seen at http://www.modelingmadeeasy.com/index.html I'll add more photos as I go along. The computer is acting up (blue screens) so this will be piecemeal OK! :rolleyes:
The boat is a Lindburg model Tuna Clipper, the rest is scratch.

This next group is of an N scale layout display. If there was a vote for best display I'd have to vote for this one.

And last but not least for the first N scale

The next N scale display was a larger one. It was also high so it was hard to get good photos, and I'm 5' 11" tall, The little ones had to be lifted up too see. An excellent layout display, many trains running in different directions quite smoothly at the same time. A lot of work and planning went into it obviously.

One short note, this setup seemed to have quite a few junk yards (not all shown). I got sort of mixed facial response when I asked if the club members had a junkyard fetish! Ah well, guess it wasn't too bad a day, I got a couple HO 1950's cars another Athearn GP, a couple of building and a great ride home.
It was raining before I got to the highway and started cruising at my nominal 90kmph, some bigshots in late model Lincons, some sport models too passed me in my poor old 84 Buick. The rain really started coming down and guess what I caught up to all of them doing my 90 kmph. Well just to show them who was king of the road then I stepped it up to 110kmph (legal limit) so there would be a real good spray and wake as I passed them. :D I guess their cars were hydroplaning, I have to admit there was a lot of water on the road but the old Buick was as solid as a rock handling the road, didn't hydroplane once in the 37 miles. Guess they were still making cars then eh!

That's good to hear. I got home before the rain and kept doing 110's even on the curves. If that soiunds bad, I drive my bicycle even worse because I know I can't wreck it.

I picked up a lot of stuff... Don't think I'll ever need this much again, just little things here and there like couplers and handrail kits...

Here are all the items before "rehabilitation". Before letting them join the layour, I clean them and test how well they run. I'm a bit dissapointed with one Athearn and very impressed with one Model Power, so there isn't a lot of logic in how that works. I'll have more details tommorrow.

Willis: Many thanks for the photos! This is the first show in Truro that I've missed since I got back into the hobby many years ago. Just didn't have the interest this year, don't need to buy anything, the weather was supposed to be crappy, so I bailed. Probably left some other locals out too, as I brought five of them along with me in my van to last year's show.

Our Saint John club has never brought our modular layout to the Truro show, we've always preferred to go and enjoy the show instead! We're participating in a new show in Fredericton, N. B. on November 5th, with ten pairs of our HO scale modules. So we have enough on our plate for now.

Here's a link to the show website: http://www.geocities.com/nbtrainshow/index.html

And our Saint John Society of Model Railroaders site too:

Hi Roman, glad you got your things home safe. Don't worry about the Athearn, they can be made to run quite nicely.

Hi Bob, if it's St John that has that module with the sawmill on it must have been at Truro one time, possibly when they had the convention. I have photos some where. Ah! found them, just recalled I didn't have a digital camera at the time :D There are some photos with a Fundy Southern sign but that layout has different corners. Bob if you can use those photos for the Maritime Federation Galleries you're welcome to use them or if you like I can send them to you.
Ok we'll try this one May 1997 Truro, recognise anyone?

Yes I over-reacted a bit. Yestarday the switcher didn't run too well, but worked just lik a switcher today! I'm impressed. It's also a lot less noisy now.

I've posted some photos in the WPF section.
