Tom, it's to stop spammers from getting on and flooding the forum. As you can see, your posting privileges have now been a pproved by a moderator. It's a bit of a bother for new members but it helps keep the forum civilized and spam free.

Hi Tom, I was the one who approved your post. Jim is correct in that it was the spam filter which stopped your post. The most usual reason is it questions the links or words contained in a post. There was nothing wrong with your post or the link, had there been a problem you can be assured it would never have been visible to the membership. Yesterday the filter caught 7 spammers with multi posts, this morning I deleted another batch and banned the spammers.
Don't feel bad about a post being questioned, it happens, but all legit posts will be displayed. This is an inconvenience I'll admit, but the value of the spam filter doing it's job in preventing some of the spam and sex related stuff outweighs by far any inconvenience caused by it questioning the content of a post.

Cheers
Willis

Hi Tom, well a lot of other forums prevent a new members posts from being shown until it's been reviewed. Here there isn't any such thing. One electronics site I joined about a week ago, wouldn't let me post for 5 days. I didn't find that out untill after I joined. I haven't been back so I guess they figure they stopped another spammer. It seems that after you've being posting for awhile the filter won't stop your posts. I don't know much about it you'd have to get Model Bob to explain it to you.
enjoy the forum
Cheers

Well, no use giving the spammers any more help on beating the system, so let's just say that members who have posted previously without spamming the forum are less likely to have their posts questioned by the spam filter.

It's not perfect, but it does a pretty good job. It catches some annoying stuff, and stuff not suited for family viewing.

It's actually quite common, and in fact it's integrated right into the Vbulletin software. Without it, your forum will quickly be overwhelmed by spam. I'd venture a guess that 90% of all active forums use it to some degree.

Then again, when it's working correctly, you typically won't ever know it's there. Only when you post something that trips it's sensors do you interact with it.

Well I'm use to automotive forums, where too much immaturity flows and the filters are probably not active, I actually like the idea.
