Atlas O's 40' Steel Reefer is from the former line of cars from InterMountain Railway company. This model is based on the Pacific Fruit Express R-40-10 class reefer which was built in 1936 & 1937. This reefer was a very successful design for PFE and the 4,700 cars that were built constituted one of the largest orders ever for refrigerator cars.

Nice looking cars, but the paint schemes aren't what I would use on my layout. Also, those cars were pretty much gone by the mid 70's, which is the era I model. I am glad to see them available again and with sturdier details.
